King Family Vineyards
Crozet, Virginia
Nestled in the heart of Virginia wine country, King Family Vineyards boasts some of the most incredible sweeping views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. This venue is spacious and the vineyard combined with the mountains makes a beautiful backdrop for photos. Both the outdoor and indoor ceremony locations are perfectly set for a memorable celebration. I’ve had the honor of shooting quite a few weddings here and I have to say that all of the vendors I have worked with have been incredible and pulled off a beautiful day for the bride and groom. Plus, can you possibly pass up a glass of their famous Crosé?
Stone Tower Winery
Leesburg, Virginia
This stunning vineyard venue with rolling hills and beautiful vistas is found in Northern Virginia and offers a perfect getaway from the bustle of the DC metro area. Just imagine, this could be the view from your ceremony and your reception. The reception room features unique stone accents and lovely chandeliers, and can hold up to 250! There is no shortage or gorgeous photo spots, including the Wooden Grotto doors by the lake, the vineyards, the hillside, and the stone table. Both the Farmhouse and the Cottage are to die for and plenty spacious for getting ready before the ceremony.
Seven Springs
Manquin, Virginia
A historic estate a little ways out of Richmond, this venue offers so much gorgeous green space. The tree lined driveway has so much southern charm! The Bridal Suite is drop dead gorgeous and your friends and family can stay on site in one of the quaint homes. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and well kept and there are sheep grazing nearby! I’m such a sucker for that historic red brick which is rich with Virginia history.
Crosskeys Vineyards
Mount Crawford, Virginia
When describing this venue to people, I like to refer to it as “a little slice of Napa Valley.” Pulling up to the gates, you’ll have to catch your breath. Immediately you’ll be drawn to the cascading rows of vines and a Tuscan style villa . Even if you aren’t visiting for a wedding, you should definitely make time to stop for some of their wine. The bridal suite is spacious and lovely. Ceremonies are held on the back lawn with the Blue Ridge Mountains in background and summer receptions can be spent dancing under the twinkling lights on the patio.
Independence Golf Club
Midlothian, Virginia
Independence is one of the grandest estates in the Richmond area. With 5 different ceremony locations and 5 different reception locations, you can really customize your wedding day. The Lawn is definitely my favorite ceremony site with a gorgeous view of the course and the Estate. On-site lodging is available and I highly recommend renting out one of these gorgeous homes for you and your bridal party! They are very spacious and private. And if you or your groom love to golf, they have a beautiful course, perfect for a round during your visit.
The Mill at Fine Creek
Powhatan, Virginia
In the quiet little part of Virginia known as Powhatan, you will a wedding venue unlike any other. The Mill at Fine Creek has one of the most unique ceremony locations, that I have ever seen, set inside of the old mill house. Lush gardens cover every part of the venue and the atmosphere can only be described as ethereal. There are quaint cottages on site where you and your bridal party and family can stay. I am a big fan of all the outdoor portrait locations especially the rocky stream where the bride and groom enjoy a few peaceful moments together by the water.
James Monroe’s Highland
Charlottesville, Virginia
Rich in history and home to one of our Founding Fathers, James Monroe’s Highland is one of the most well known historical sites in Charlottesville. The tall bush lined entryway to the estate gives off a very secret garden vibe. If you’ve ever dreamt about getting married in front of a big tree, the century old white oak tree makes for a beautiful ceremony backdrop. I personally love a nice stroll through the gardens and peeking over the fence to see what is in season.
River Farm
Alexandria, Virginia
Just outside of Alexandria, River Farm sits quietly overlooking the Potomac. It is a peaceful estate with lush gardens where you could spend all day in getting lost in thought and in the tranquility of the place. As headquarters to the American Horticultural Society, you can be sure that the grounds will look stunning year round.
Delfosse Vineyards
Faber, Virginia
A secluded vineyard about 30 minutes outside of Charlottesville, Delfosse has the most breathtaking ceremony spot atop the hill that overlooks the rest of the estate. I love the grandeur of the white tent and the glossiness of the lake.
Upper Shirley Vineyards
Charles City, Virginia
One of Richmond’s only vineyards, Upper Shirley is the perfect riverside venue. I can’t say enough good things about the atmosphere, the staff, the food, and the wine here. I have enjoyed myself time and time again at the vineyard whether visiting with friends and family or shooting a wedding. It is honestly my favorite escape from the city. You are bound to have a grand and roaring celebration with everything on site you could possibly need. The riverside ceremony site is the perfect place to stay “I do” and the long deck, with twinkling lights and endless wine, makes for a cocktail hour your guests will never forget.
